One of the reasons Detroit is awesome
I went to the best place on Earth: Detroit Antiques Mall.
If you are looking for found items from Detroit's glory days you HAVE to check it out. How about hundreds of doorplates and knobs for only dollars each. Or 60 old school desk chairs. Or thousands of architectural pieces. It's got some of the best paintings and wall art I've seen EVER at an antique shop. It's located in the heart of the city, so you may want to come armed with extra adults for hauling out your treasures... and for use as body guards... ha ha.
Of course I would have liked to buy...oh everything. But since we are renters AND we are moving to a new city soon, I couldn't think of hauling many treasures home.
I did come home with one little gem.

She's in really good shape, but, even so, I'm gonna slap some new handle grips on her and give her a fresh coat of paint.
I can't decide what color. Any suggestions?
Chloe's legs aren't long enough to move the pedals...but she's good at pretending like she's going super fast.

funny bird
When we were in St. Louis over the holidays, we made our regular trip to the history museum where they happened to have crafts for kids that day.
Chloe carefully glued and colored her penguin.

Then she even MORE carefully peeled the eyes off said penguin and walked around the museum like Helen Keller for 15 minutes.

No, she didn't think she was being funny or cute. She was dead serious about wanting to be just like that penguin. Slowly a group of curious onlookers surrounded her, but she just continued to walk around running into things.

Party
Even though our camera died, I was able to recover the photos that were still on it.
When I took these photos Chloe was really into using her potty. Since then, however, she has reverted to peeing all over the house. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.
I took her to Target to pick out her very own big girl underwear. She came home happily clutching her Thomas the Tank Engine undies....for boys. The girl knows what she wants. She likes to wear them with Daddy's snow hat.

Hard at work.

We convinced her to go #2 on her potty by telling her that I ran into Frosty the Snowman at Walmart. Allegedly he told me, "Tell Chloe it's time to use the potty and when she poops she can have this shirt and a party." Well within a matter of hours she did her business. Anything for Frosty! She seriously asks to wear this shirt every day.

She loved her "poopin' party."

C'est la vie
Our camera died.
Sad days around here.
It's definitely taken a toll on our blog.
We are in the midst of some heavy debate about whether or not to get an awesomely huge camera or a copy of our previous beloved and cheaper little number. There will be no regrets.
Decisions will be made by this weekend and you can be sure the blog will be back in action too.
In other news:
Chloe started holding her pen the right way...and now draws faces. So darn cute.
We've been doing a lot of drawing around here lately!

The world through Chloe's eyes
As I have mentioned before, Chloe's playmobil toys are definitely her favorite! Here is her regular cast of characters and how she plays with them.
She got this one right on!

This dog is quite talented in the eyes of little Chlo - he is often seen going down the slide, singing "Frosty the Snowman" and even riding a horse!

Uncle Chuck is the funniest man alive according to Chloe. His character also flies a plane.

As in life, my character is basically there just to do whatever Chloe tells her to.

Daddy always sweeps in to save the day. And sometimes he is a pirate.

Isaac is the most popular character. He does EVERYTHING from lining up to go down the slide, to holding hands and dancing with the Chloe character. For reasons unbeknown to us, Isaac's character happens to be the antithesis of his real life uber-anglo self.

Becket is, well...the baby.

Adele's character is often seen pushing a stroller or sitting on a bench at the park next to a stroller.
